About the Award

Supporting local students

Each year, League City Lodge No. 1053 awards the Lamar Scholarship to deserving students from our local public high schools, helping ease the cost of higher education and investing in the future of our community.

The Lamar Scholarship is open to any graduating senior at the three high schools we sponsor — Clear Falls, Clear Springs, and Clear Creek. No Masonic connection is required. Applications are reviewed by a committee of lodge members, who look for achievement and moral character in keeping with Masonic principles.

What the committee looks for

Academic achievement

A record of steady effort and accomplishment in the classroom, including dual credit coursework where applicable.

Moral character

Conduct consistent with the Masonic principles of integrity, charity, and service to others.

Community involvement

Participation in school clubs, athletics, civic groups, or religious organizations — and the roles held within them.

Many of our applicants also apply for a separate $2,500 scholarship from Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas. Their application window runs October 1 to March 1 — see their page for current eligibility, and apply for both if you qualify.
